misery_signals_2_by_8_clutch_8.jpgSo here I am in English class listening to some Misery Signals. I should be writing my critical essay paper, but I can’t seem to write in the class environment. So yeah, back in school, feeling a lot better than I have been for the past while. It’s pretty relieving. In my time of agony I think I watched Jackass 2 over four times. I loved it as soon as it started: “Hi I’m Johnny Knoxville, welcome to Jackass.” And then a beautiful clip of running getting mowed down by bulls through a window. Great movie though, all the skits have something really good to them. I like the predecessor either way though, bahaha.

Another half day everybody. Then comes March break and Comeback Kid or Rock Fight…which one should I go to? Just an opinion thing. And who’s going to Flogging Molly? I know Tom and Evren are going…I’d be going, but I just started getting better…and I’ve got to save my neck for Saturday night. But those are my questions. Thanks to the boys for the welcome this morning.

Cheers,

Rob

cancer_bats_two_by_madhatterbeachparty.jpgWell everybody, I’m currently feeling like crap.  My head feels like a ton and I’m pretty sure I pulled my shoulder.  I’ve been having the weirdest nights lately.  Thursday night I just plain couldn’t sleep so nothing too special I suppose.  Friday night I was shivering like mad and my neck was killing me.  Couldn’t sleep then either.  Last night was fucked though, got up at like 2am in cold sweat and couldn’t fall back to sleep.  Anybody got a diagnosis for me?

Right now my head feels like it’s going to explode and it’s not nice.  Might take a nap a little later today.  Is anybody else screwed for LonCapa? I mean I am fucked like mad on that one. It’s only chemistry that’s stressing me out.

In music though, I think I played the Cancer Bats album about twenty times last night and then switched to some Gorgeous.  Was good times.  So my weekends been pretty quiet.  Trivia: How has your weekend been?  Or if you prefer…do you know Joe Satrianni? Somebody was telling me about him today.  Sounds like a good show to go see.

If any of you have some good trip-hop to suggest to me please do, I’m starting to like it.  Have a good end to the weekend and hope you all enjoyed your snow days!

Cheers,

Rob

Shit, it really has been a while since I posted. Either way, things are going smoothly. Today is officially two months that me and Steph have been going out so that’s a good sign. School’s going good, aside from chemistry, but hey, we can’t be good at everything.

I’ve recently gotten neck deep in some Southern rock. So far Maylene and the Sons of Disaster are at the top of my list. Listened to their new album and I have to admit that I like it as much as the first. Then I’ve gotten back into As Cities Burn who apparently have a new album coming out soon. And a day after my birthday, Haste the Day is coming out with their new album “Pressure the Hinges.” (I think that’s what it’s called.)

March 10th is officially going to be one of the best nights ever. I plan on seeing Comeback Kid and then attending Rock Fight 2007. No description needed, watch:

ROCK FIGHT 2007!

Come if you want, you’d be missing out if you didn’t.

I’m currently in chemistry class and just mellowing down to The Chariot and enjoying the absence of our teacher. I’ll have more to write when I can actually sit and think but yeah, I’ve switched to WordPress, so I will no longer be updating my Blogger. If I’ve forgotten you on my blogroll, let me know.

Trivia: Dream instruments that anybody’d want to play? And who has those really big calculators with the games on them? Seriously.

Cheers,

Rob

First off, I need all of you to send me the links to your blogs so I can put them up again.

Now, for my weekend. Friday was super intense. I got home, walked the dog, ate…then slept. I know, “Rob, you’re so hardcore,” no need to say it. Okay, so it sucks for a Friday night but hey, Saturday night was pretty fucking sweet.
So Saturday during the day was spent mostly at the Wastemount library to do my homework because I don’t have good Internet in the cubes. At around seven I met up with my little bitch and we went into many stores randomly. It was good times, lots of love, lots of talk. And I know she’s going to read this, so, I love you, so shut it. Either way, seeing as she had to get home earlier than usual, due to parental issues, I brought her to the metro, and we unfortunately parted ways.
So it was around 9:15pm so I had to find something to do until ten…because that’s when Marcus got off work. So let’s see, I went to Subway because I was kind of hungry. Once I got there, there was a “putain” there. A very interesting and revealing woman. Very intense. So I bought my sub and left. Ate along the way back to the Paramount and upon arriving I just waited upstairs. While waiting I saw Phil, the wicked awesome little musician. What a kid. So yeah, Marcus hurried his ass up and then we had to wait for Alyssa. So she got there and we got to the D.I.Y. Turbo Haus. We got there in time to see the starting of Marshall Law. They were pretty good, and they were my second best picture taken. It’s the one I posted with the blog. The other really good ones I have are of Nick and Alex from Trigger Effect. Either way, they weren’t bad at all, good old punks.
Then came Trigger Effect, another good show, very very enthusiastic. It was some tight shit, and I have to admit, I like where they’re going. They’ve got what it takes, they just need a bit more organization. Last night they were in top form, and it worked out great…though Alex looked like he was going to have a fucking heart attack when he finished, it’s a small room and it’s damn hot.
Next up, was Vicious Cycle. And holy shit, these guys were something. I mean, they were like a Minor Threat style, but their function was something. The vocalist sported funky sunglasses, a hat and a purple tee-shirt, it was funny. They are also the only fuckers that are putting out 7″s and fucking cassettes, now that is classy. I respect that shit, and it was pretty tight.
Just as a side-note, but fuck all of you who went to Snoop Dog, you made the street smell like intense weed. I mean fucking intense weed. It was nasty. And you also all fucked me over when I wanted to ask a cab to come get me, they said no because of your crap. I was across the street, and I hope you guys were interrupted by us. Either way, Turbo Haus was the shit last night. The re-decorating was wicked.
As for trivia, what tests do you people have this week? And is popcorn awesome or is it awesome?
Cheers,
Rob

Ah, another Friday, another evening of interesting shenanigans. I’d been stoked all week for this Friday because there were two very nice shows to see. At 8:15-ish, I found myself outside of Saints Showroom Bar, a nice little joint where a guy I know, the all-mighty Phil, was playing. Phil has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. From what I understood, he hadn’t played a show in almost a year, and he pulled this gig off very nicely. You can listen to his solo project, My Biggest Line, here. I picked up a few demos of Phils, and I’m quite glad I did, it’s a very nice CD. Hopefully the video filmed will be posted soon on youtube…when it is I’ll give you all the URL.

Now, most of you know that there was also a show for Trigger Effect and Madeline. But, of course, complications were to pop up.

So while driving from Phils gig to Trigger Effects, Marco gets a call from his “friend” Alyssa. (Note: Marcus, if I mispelled her name, let me know.) She had recently adopted Alex’ dog, Prince, whom I’d known since I’d moved from Ottawa to Montréal. Either way, Prince was eating her roommates poodle, so we had to find another place for the dog to stay. We try calling Alex, call his folks, then call Alex, and then wait for the call of truth. Finally, after a little while of waiting for a plan, we bring Prince back to Alex’ place. That made for a good hour spent. We then made our way to St. Denis and made it just in time for Trigger Effect’ “Point of View.” That’s my favourite song. You can check them out here.

The band after that was Tora Tora. They seemed to have had mic problems. Madeline did too apparently. Sucks ’cause from the back of the bar you could here the vocals pretty well but from up-front, the amps just over-powered the mic. A little annoyed that the vocalist gave shit to the sound guy, there was nothing to do, the sound was at the maximum it could possibly be put at. Sucks, but c’est la vie, it’s only one show. In general it was pretty good. Looking forward to more encounters.

So in general my weekend was good. Went to check out some cameras yesterday with Tom and his dad and that ended being a little eye-opener. Then, at the last minute, in a flash, I called Tom for the Habs game and boy, did we fuck those Sabers hard…at the end I mean. But yeah, good day yesterday. Now I must study for Histoire and write a damned speech for English. Damn QAIS and all their horse-shit. Oh well, it’s better than doing nothing I suppose.

Trivia bitch! For my pure entertainment of course. Do any of you ever think of blowing something up? I mean, don’t conspire to blow up anything monumental, and hopefully nothing living. Or do you rather hug something to death? Answers! Confusion! Away!

Cheers,
Rob

Fuck yes, first blog of the year you fucking bastards! I know you’re all saying, “But Rob, it’s already half-way through January!” Well I don’t give a diddly-FUCK. ‘Cause it’s 2007 and the Bye-bye sucked balls. But hey, you can’t have everything in the world.

Okay, so when New Years comes around these past two years, I’ve developped a wicked awesome ritual: Six whole fucking hours of Iron Chef: America. People, the Food channel is the shit! Fucking addictive. But here’s the jist of it. There are these chefs known as the Iron Chefs who are world-class chefs and shit. Random challengers come in and they battle food by making five dishes for three judges. What’s really awesome is there’s always random secret ingredients. So you get real random stuff: From leek to sweet peas; From marsh crab to Shinook. So check it out, some wicked shit yo.

My Nano kicks all your iPod’s asses just because it’s pink.

So Rob’s gotten into his little GlassJAw and Thursday thing again. Since I don’t have my big desktop computer, I don’t even have anywhere near half my music. But now I’ve downloaded LimeWire and I’m going download crazy. Got “Full Collapse” by Thursday, beautiful album. Also got “Worship and Tribute” by GlassJAw, freaking amazing band. I’ve also downloaded some Haste the Day whom are a Christian band…but the breakdowns are really awesome.

You know what really pushes my motherfucking buttons? It’s when I leave the computer for a while and I get MSN convos and stuff and people start saying stuff that I’d respond to if I were there. I mean, sure, I don’t usually say “brb” I just kind of leave, but give me a fucking break. The worst part is when people say “whatever.” I hate that word with a flaming passion when it’s used in that attitude kind of way. Venting, the reason for blogging.

Aside from that, I’m just listening to some Protest the Hero here, talking to my girlfriend (who knows I win) and her kid friend. Reading “A Confederacy of Dunces” by John Kennedy Toole, fucking hilarious. I have to admit, when I heard that Toole killed himself I was a little weary about reading it, but it’s amazing. The vocabulary is incredible, the characters all have their own little “je ne sais quoi,” and the whole idea to it is just so simple. The metaphors on modern society in here are so well depicted by Toole it’s just fucking great.

Fuck, what else can I write? I aced my math quiz and I’m looking at acing the next chem quiz on Friday. Oh shit, speaking of Friday, another jam space show for Trigger Effect, Toro Toro, Fayne and Madeline. Before that it’s a trip to the Saints bar for Rock Out Africa. Good times. Then Johnny Truant on February 2nd…I need them details bad. If anyone knows, please comment it. All I know is that it’s at some sketchy-ass bar.

Oh yeah, Hellsing OVA. It was really not too shabby. The quality was freaking amazing, but I only got the standard edition, so no special features. The voice actors aren’t too bad, I mean, I recognize a few voices, but still, s’good stuff. I need to check out the 3rd on youtube. Ah youtube is fucking sweet people, fucking sweet.

Another thing for this year people: Some fellow bloggers and I are looking to start a podcast. No real theme yet, but it’ll be a parody kind of thing. We are all looking forward to putting them out soon. Maybe the March break will be a good time to start really working them out. I don’t know if that was enough for you guys, but enjoy.

Ah! Trivia bitch: “What was the best gift you got for Christmas/Chanuka?” Or “what is your dream job?” Looking forward to it.

PS – This fucking blog won’t let me add fucking pictures.

Cheers yo,
Rob

It’s the day after Christmas and all through the streets, people were bussling, like kittens in heat. Yes my friends, Christmas passed, and I hope everyone had a good one. I know I did…in most ways. My sister bought me a nice scarf and my folks got me a pink iPod nano. Let me tell you, I like the fact that I don’t have to change CDs in my CD-player ever again! Other than that, had my grandparents over for dinner and it was pretty good.

And by tomorrow, I’ll have the new and improved Hellsing: Ultimate OVA DVD because it was on sale at HMV for half the price and I’ve got a gift card of $50 to spend bitches. This new version to the manga I adore is apparently packed with better quality animation, more depth on the actual story, and has, from what I heard, a shitload more blood and gore than ever before. I’m looking very forward to having the first volume to watch. I’ve seen the subbed version of the first two volumes, but I’m curious about the English version…trailer I saw featured some pretty big names in the seiyuu world.

So right now, it’s 10:15pm on December 26th, and I have to admit, todays Boxing Day did not impress me. It was nothing compared to Florida’s Boxing Day. There were no big sales today. Except Best Buy I think. I saw a reportage on the news and apparently there were many, many, many Québecers lines up to buy stuff. Big sale item sounded like TVs…and I don’t blame them, those things are fucking expensive.

So New Years is coming up everybody. A lot of you might be thinking: “Could this possibly be Rob’s trivia?” Well, it is for you few who read my blog, it is. I doubt anyone will respond until later because of the holidays, but here it is: “What are you/did you do(ing) for New Years eve/New Years?” and of course, if you don’t like that question, then here’s another one: “Who is a fan of the romantic theme?”

There are my questions, this is my finale. I hope for all the best to everyone in the New Year and I hope that my blog will be capable of getting around a bit more in the next year. I’ll write up a small review on the DVD when I get it, and I’ll have my thoughts lined up for my first of the year posting! To all, a happy holiday, and a great New Year.

Cheers,
Rob

Title is refering to last night and how fucking deaf I was when I got home. Let me give you the low-down as I listen to some Hollywood Undead. For those of you who don’t know, I was totally hell-bent on going to a party/show last night like all week. Who went? I did, duh. But for those of you who didn’t, that sucks, ’cause it was fucking amazing. Good good times, enjoyed it immensely. I’ll give you my entire Saturday now.

So let’s begin, got up at six or so, started moving some stuff inside my room. Then me and my dad spent the day going from my old house to my new house with random crap that the movers didn’t bring ’cause they were way too fragile. So we did that all day, then I ate at around…euh, seven I guess and called Marco. By 7:30pm I was at his house while he was sleeping…a little awkward, but who gives, the fucker works too hard. So ’round eight we left, he got pizza, and we got all the way to “Espace à louer,” otherwise known as the TURBOhaus. As soon as we got there we know it was going to be fucking wicked, everyone had a beer, the place was full of smoke and it was a small kind of room. Here’s the line-up that went down with my little opinion.

First to play at like 9:30pm was Madeline, the band I missed last week on Friday night. At first you wouldn’t think they were good because of the bad recordings they’ve got. I also would never have guessed that I knew the members, was pretty funny. So yeah, they started, and it was fucking wicked. Joey, the bassist, had really good bass lines for the songs and was completely into it, which I really admire. He really impressed me. Jay pulled off some sick solo while putting the guitar on his back and shit. Intense. Brian was half-drunk, but it’s all good. The vocalist wasn’t too shabby either. He started turning a little purple during the third song, but yeah, fucking wicked nonetheless. As for the drummer, he was really really wicked. Pierced nipples, I also think he threw a show. So funny. All’s to say that they were really good. I regret having missed them last Friday.

I just noticed that it took me like 40 minutes to write just my second paragraph because of fucking Facebook/MSN/Myspace. Goddamn man. Okay, back to what I was writing.

Next up was a band from Oreilia (if that’s how you spell it) who played a wicked ass set. I was hugely impressed. They had their shit together and the guitarist was amazing. Not just that, but the vocalist was great. He could scream and sing melodicaly! That’s major bonus points in Rob’s books. The bassist was a plucker, but that didn’t stop him from laying down some major stuff. The drummer had a wicked do, half shaved, then long on one side, bizarre. Me and Brian (guitarist for Madeline) talked with them outside for a while waiting for Trigger Effect to come on.

When Trigger Effect did come on, it was fucking fun. Alex’ guitar strap came off three times I think. Everyone was singing along. Some cracktard sprayed beer on everyone, which is a waste, but it was funny. They were really good. The vocalist had everyone under control and went at it real nicely. They are the one’s people should thank for the turbo lingo that’s going around. The TURBOhaus is their jam space, good fun place. By this time, almost everyone was drunk enough to see Fayne.

Ah man, Fayne, with Joe the singer. Holy crap, they are so fucking amazing these guys. Joe is a fucking beast. Jumping on the people, breaking it down while he’s on live. What a guy. Fucking monster. He has a great scream, not so good with the melody, but his enthusiasm makes up for it. He was the life of the show. The other band members are fucking wicked too. Their music is so well made. Just fits perfectly.

Fuck, I just realized I mixed up the order, Trigger Effect came after Fayne. Screw it, I’m too lazy.

Next were The Gorgeous, everyone’s fucking heroes. Everyone was singing along. I mean everyone. Everyone moshed. Then from there it was just so intense. Jordan, the vocalist, took a sip of a Heineken and smashed it on the floor. Hehe, everyone started slipping up and shit. Ugh, I would see those guys every weekend if I could. We poured vodka on Jordan too, hardcore stuff. Then I think the guitarist spat and almost got me in the face, but seeing as I’ve got super ninja reflex skills, I dodged the saliva. When they finished with one of my favourite songs, “Shy Guys,” they crowd surfed the guitarist. Great times, great times.

So those are the bands. But as for the party part. I grabbed a few asses for fun, chilled with Marco and Alex a lot. Talked quite a bit with Josh. Oh speaking of Josh, had a good moment with him right before The Gorgeous, went a bit like this:

Me: “Ah man, all this B.O. makes me feel like a real woman.”
Josh: “Man. You mean man, not woman!”
Me: “…did I say woman again? Fucking cross-dressers! Stop it!”

It was funny at the moment. Another thing that was funny is when a guy lubed Jay real nicely. Jay is the guitarist for Madeline. Anyways, was an awesome night, and I feel bad for everyone who wasn’t there. Sucks for you.

Now I’ve got a big week ahead of me in school and tomorrow I’m going to write that post I said I’d write during class or something. So that’s Rob’s Saturday night. And here’s the trivia: What did you do on your Saturday night? And how bad did the Selwyn dance suck?

Cheers,
Rob

I didn’t get to my post yet. Moving on Friday, The Gorgeous on Saturday. I’m going to get that post in, I swear, hold up ladies and gentlemen.

Cheers,
Rob

I’m saddened right now, but I have my topic in mind for tomorrow morning.

Cheers,
Rob
